Climbing at San Valentino at Lake Garda
The climbing garden San Valentino is located on the west shore of Lake Garda above Gargnano and can be reached via a walkway from the hamlet of Sasso. The rock of limestone is about 25 metres high and offers medium to difficult climbing plates and a fantastic view.
An essential climbing experience in San Valentino includes a visit to the hermitage of San Valentino at over 700 metres, and you can reach it in just over an hour's hike from Sasso. At the mark 31, the path leads through the beech and oak forest to a small stream and finally up to a spectacular lookout point. Beware of the steep rocky slopes. After half an hour, the path forks. The path on the right leads to the hermitage, which, after a short climb surrounded by cypresses, is nestled close to the rock face.
The hermitage and chapel were built after a plague epidemic in Gargnano in 1630 as a refuge for the citizens and three hermits lived here over the centuries. On the side is a modest room that is always open and available to use in an emergency. Head back the same way to return to the start.

From Salò direction Gargnano; past the bus station and entrance to the lake promenade, turn left towards Valvestino / Magasa / Navazzo. A few kilometres further right into the junction for Sasso. Here there is a parking space and the way up to the climbing wall and the Hermitage.
At the cemetery, a road leads north, and the first turnoff leads left onto a path through vineyards to a lemon plantation near Sisengla. A track on the right leads to a lattice tower of the ENEL; At the fork, a path leads left to the foot of Placca Rossa, to the forest and finally to the foot of Placca delle Morose. The ascent to San Valentino begins here.
