The Wine Route - Strada del Vino

The local red and rosé wines are well known internationally. Their vineyards are nestled just behind the two villages of Bardolino and the neighbouring Cisano. The two towns also join with the other wine-growing areas of Lake Garda via the Strada del Vino.

The Strada del Vino leads from Lazise via Cavalcaselle to Castelnuovo, and then via Pastrengo to Affi and returns to Lazise. You can reach the wine route via the Gardesana Orientale shore road or the Affi motorway exit. Lined with around 40 wineries and vineyards that sell their products and offer tastings, you can explore the Strada del Vino by car or by bike.

If you want to know more about Bardolino and its wines, visit the Wine Museum in Via Costabella above the city and do a tasting tour. The Zeni family owns it, and they have converted an old winery into an exhibition space. There are all kinds of exhibits, and a short film gives information about the local wine production of then and now.

All year round there are numerous festivals in Bardolino devoted to its fine wines. Among the most important are the Palio del Chiaretto, which focuses on rosé wine, the autumnal cult festival Festa dell'uva e del vino during the grape harvest and the Festa dell Novello in November.
