In Tremosine, for example, every year on Easter Sunday, the traditional "S-ciapì" festival is celebrated on the square in the historical centre of the Pieve district. It's an ancient, folk custom, where hard-boiled eggs decorated with natural colours of herbs and barks take centre stage. It's a game, and the aim is to hit your coloured egg against your opponent's egg in such a way that your opponent's egg gets destroyed, but your egg remains intact. The winner then gets the Easter egg of his opponent and can eat it with gusto.
