Typical products of Lake Garda
Lake Garda is known not only for its wide variety of wines but also for other quality products such as olive oil and lemons.
Grape vines and olive trees dominate especially the agricultural areas of the east coast. The olive tree is also the undisputed ruler of the north of the lake.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil, "Olio Extravergine di Oliva" is an exquisite oil characterised by its extraordinary lightness, good digestibility and delicate, fruity notes. It comes from the surroundings of Lake Garda, and it has the European trademark DOP. It is a small jewel here that even has its very own museum in Bardolino, where you can learn about its history, cultivation and production.
The ancient lemon gardens, called "Limonaie" are a striking feature of the landscape that captivate many visitors in the north-west of Lake Garda. The citrus fruits are an essential ingredient for many local specialities, such as the lemon distillate Lemoncino, the liqueur Crema della Riviera dei Limoni, the cedar water (Acqua di Cedro) and in the regions tempting desserts.
