Culture and Nature
Discover Lake Garda's impressive landscape of art, culture and nature during your holiday, it's worth it! Medieval fortresses and towers, palaces and castles, magnificent churches, archaeological sites and stately mansions take you back in time. Impressive gorges, roaring waterfalls and rolling hills show you the natural diversity of the holiday region. A range of concerts and cultural events complete the package.
The magnificent late 17th century Palazzo Bettoni in Gargnano is one of the most beautiful villas Lake Garda has to offer. The monumental Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone Riviera, designed and occupied by the Italian poet Gabriele D'Annunzio, is one of the most important monuments of the region due to its unique combination of buildings and squares.
It is also essential to visit the ruins of the Roman villa in Sirmione, named after the Roman poet Catullus, and considered the most excellent example of a Roman villa in northern Italy. The castles of Malcesine and Desenzano, from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the city and the lake, are also worth a visit.
Countless other works of art can be discovered on day trips, be it during a visit to Trento with its charming cathedral square or a tour to the Roman Arena in Verona. There, and in many other places at Lake Garda you can also enjoy great concerts, exciting plays and impressive folk festivals.
But the most prominent artist in the region is nature. The impressive landscape has some extraordinary sights to offer. The glacier mills at Torbole or the unique waterfall Cascata del Varone are just a few examples that will delight you.
If the weather does not play along, or you're simply looking for a cool alternative to a day at the beach, a visit to one of the many museums is a perfect alternative.
