Road cycling at Lake Garda
Cycling can be different to different people. Some use the bike to get from A to B at a leisurely pace, getting to know the country and people up close. Others prefer to rattle stones and roots by mountain bike. Others like to go for kilometres on thin wheels and paved roads. For all rides, Lake Garda is an ideal destination! This is undoubtedly due to the excellent combination of mild climate, unique nature and road bike trails in all lengths and levels of difficulty.
Between May and October, there's plenty of sunshine and pleasant temperatures. Together with the varied landscape that can be both flat and gently hilly or mountainous around Lake Garda, this is the perfect setting for a bike tour.
Numerous bike-friendly paths and low-traffic roads, either in the flat or with challenging mountain grades, offer passionate racing cyclists everything that is necessary for intensive training and the best riding pleasure. It's not without reason that many Italian racing cyclists like Claudio Chiappucci or Maurizio Fondriest have done their training laps in the Lake Garda region.
The north shore of Lake Garda, which belongs to the province of Trentino, is particularly popular among racing cyclists. For example, the area of Alto Garda, and the neighbouring Ledro Valley. Popular cycling routes also lead over the St. Barbara pass, to Lake Tenno, over the Passo del Ballino and through the steep curves at Drena or through the biotope Marocche at Dro.
